Fridge & Freezer Recycling

Why? Your old refrigerator could be costing you up to $125 a year in increased electricity bills. Rearrange your main refrigerator to maximize space and recycle your extra appliance for instant savings.

ComEd will pick up your old, working refrigerator for free and pay you $35 to recycle it in an environmentally friendly way.

Retire your old, working refrigerator or freezer through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. We'll pick it up for FREE and send you $35. The units are responsibly recycled, which reduces the amount of solid landfill waste and prevents harmful oils and refrigerants. We'll also take an old, working room air conditioner when we pick up your fridge or freezer – and send you an additional $10.

How it works: Your refrigerator or freezer must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet (interior) in size - typical for most residential refrigerators and freezers, empty, defrosted, and working at the time of pickup.

Get started: Make an appointment. Schedule online or call 855-433-2700 from 8 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm on Saturday. Visit ComEd.com/FridgeRecycling for more details.
